Where data is lost due to a mechanical failure in the hard drive, do not attempt to download data recovery software. It will not manage to locate the file, and it could make the problem worse by trying to use a broken component. In this case, there are some crude techniques such as freezing the drive which may work, but the only good chance you have is with a professional service with access to diagnostic equipment, and the tools to effect a physical repair.
